February 26th 2005 Appreciation Evening for Health Care Professionals and Support Staff of the Elk Valley Our appreciation evening was a great success. Many of Fernie's & Sparwood's restaurants, grocery stores and some of our finest bake sales cooks donated the food for the evening. Everyone that attended were impressed with the Elk Valley's donators. We were overwhelmed by the response and support from the community. The evening was a fun evening, some speeches on the status of Health care in the Elk Valley, 3 auctions (number in bag, silent auction and live auction that we raised over $2000). We also signed up another 20 members. I believe this is what our group and community needed to realy come together and show everyone that we have accomplished a lot more by working together and fighting for our services. There were approximately 300 people that dropped in over the evening. Every one that attended had a great time. Left over food was donated to the Fire Department, the Hospital and the Sparwood Seniors center. The remaining buns were donated to Catholic womens Wednesdays Soup and Bun for peace. Meetings are now every 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Fernie Family Centre at 7pm
