Whats happening with the Operation Room and Hospital - Sept 12, 2004 The IHA has now restricted the Fernie Hospital to day surgeries. When questioned IHA rep. Ray Bernard has stated that if a person is injured in Jaffrey and is brought to the Fernie hospital and that person requires (non day) surgery. Our surgeon may only help that person if it is life in limb. This could mean the person will be shipped off to Cranbrook which could take 2 hours or more. This we feel is inhuman and puts that person at un-necessary risk and trauma. We feel this dictatorial procedure is unacceptable. These are the type of dictatorial government policies that our parents fought against in the 2nd World War. A Goverment that is willing to put their people in harms way and has no conscience toward the human suffering. What can you to do to counteract this? We must hold our current government to task at the next election and demand the termination of the top executives in IHA (without a golden handshake, in other words fire them) for this betrayal of trust. Bill Bennett has endorsed IHA's plan with complete knowledge of it potential cost to human life and trauma.
